Monster Characteristics:
Neopterons that inhabit the Windward Plains.
They use their needle-like mouths to pour
digestive juices into carrion to dissolve it
into easily consumed fluids. Feeding makes
them bloated and sluggish, so they have to
rest on walls or ceilings. Their forelegs
double as sensory organs that they use to
assess their surroundings, but they are
quite sensitive, so a loud noise is usually
enough to immobilize a Bulaqchi.
Bulaqchi inhabit the caves of the Windward Plains, where they can be seen crawling across both the ground and the ceilings. After feeding, they retreat to walls or overhead surfaces to rest. These creatures hunt in swarms, most commonly targeting Ceratonoth. Once the victim is downed, the group takes turns draining fluids from the carcasses neck. The species is also preyed upon by the larger Chatacabra.
Bulaqchi possess hard, yellow-toned shells and six limbs. Four are adapted for locomotion, ending in small hooked tips with spines along the underside that provide grip for climbing or moving upside down. The remaining two limbs are larger, each tipped with hooked claws used for grasping and tearing. Their heads bear two round, jet-black eyes and a pair of antennae lined with fine sensory hairs. A dense coat of bristles covers the rear of the body. Most distinct is their mouthpart—a single elongated claw-like structure capable of piercing flesh to draw out fluids.
When hunting, Bulaqchi employ their hooked claws to pierce prey and overwhelm it through numbers. Once immobilized, they stab with their mouthparts and drain bodily fluids. They have been documented leaping onto hunters, impaling with their proboscis-like mouth, and pinning victims down to feed while still alive.
