Monster Characteristics:
Herbivores that live in herds in cold areas.
They are targeted by predators as a source of
sustenance where flora and fauna are scarce.
Additional Information:
Herbivores that live primarily in cold
regions. Rafma form herds with a large alpha
at the head. When threatened, the alpha
discharges static energy stored in its horn
to shock foes and defend the herd. This horn
can also be targeted with the Hook Slinger
to get paralytic ammo. Rafma have been
sighted moving along dizzyingly steep
cliffsides, to the wonderment of observers.
Rafma are herbivorous herd monsters found in both the Iceshard Cliffs and the Ruins of Wyveria. Their movements resemble those of horses—walking at a steady pace, then galloping when fleeing danger—yet their bodies and behaviors more closely parallel mountain goats. They are skilled climbers, often seen scaling cliff faces with surprising agility. Herds are led by dominant Alpha individuals, who defend the group while the others retreat to safety when threatened.
Rafma are covered in grey-brown fur, with their faces and limbs more sparsely coated to reveal the skin beneath. Their eyes are brown with horizontal rectangular pupils, adapted for heightened awareness of threats in their rocky environments. They have floppy, hippo-like ears and a short nose set just above their mouths. Black scales crown the top of their heads, blending seamlessly into their equally black horns. Their tails are also dark, scaly at the base but fading into fur with a small tuft at the tip. Rafma possess hoofed feet, with two sharp spurs protruding slightly higher up their legs, providing stability when climbing. Additional scale patches run across their shoulders for extra protection. Alpha Rafma are easily distinguished by their more vivid coloring: orange-brown fur with white undersides, rears, and limbs. Their horns are larger, oddly shaped, and imbued with paralytic properties that make them particularly dangerous.
