Monster Characteristics:

attracted to light, hunters can use
brightmoss to mark large monsters, which
Vespoid will then attack and paralyze.
To finish off a Vespoid without damaging
its delicate materials, a hunter must avoid
blunt trauma and use attacks that gradually
drain its health. Vespoid fluids are useful
for crafting with monster bones.
Vespoid are among the most adaptable small monsters in the Wilds, found in nearly every locale except the Windward Plains. They are opportunistic and thrive in diverse environments, though they share a common trait across regions: an aggressive attraction to sources of light, which often leads them into conflict because of hunters.
Vespoid possess dark brown exoskeletons, solid red eyes, and six hooked legs for gripping surfaces. Their abdomens are slightly swollen and end in three sharp stingers capable of delivering potent paralytic venom. Four thin, brown-tinged wings with purple highlights—two on each side, with the forewings slightly larger—allow for swift, erratic flight. Their constant motion and agility make them difficult targets, particularly in groups.
These insects primarily attack by thrusting their stingers into foes, injecting venom to incapacitate them. They also ram targets mid-flight, using their bodies as blunt weapons. While individually fragile, Vespoid become a serious hazard when encountered in swarms, overwhelming hunters with relentless assaults.
